LED Video Walls in New York: Inside Mitsubishi's Times Square HQ

A custom LED wall, a floor-to-ceiling skyline view, and a control system that runs itself.

New York does not need an introduction to big screens. But there is a difference between a screen built for a billboard and a screen built for the people who work in the building every single day. That was the brief when Mitsubishi Corporation Americas brought us into their Times Square headquarters, right in the middle of Manhattan.

An Employee Lounge With a View

Mitsubishi's US headquarters sits in one of the most recognizable blocks in the world, and the space we were building for faces floor-to-ceiling glass with an incredible view of the New York skyline. Instead of competing with that view, the goal was to build something that matched it, a direct-view LED wall with a fine 1.8mm pixel pitch, sharp enough for close viewing in a lounge where people sit just a few feet away.

The wall became the centerpiece of a full lounge remodel. It runs engaging content that energizes the space daily, and it doubles as a showcase for the work Mitsubishi's teams are doing all over the world, giving employees a sense of scale most break rooms never attempt.

A Control System Built to Run Itself

The hardware is only half the story. We designed a custom iPad control interface built specifically for Mitsubishi's team, running on a Q-SYS platform that automates the entire daily cycle. The screen turns on at a set time each morning, runs a custom content loop through the day, and turns off automatically at night, no one has to remember to flip a switch.

For events, a single button press starts a video that syncs perfectly with the room's speaker system, audio and visual landing together for what amounts to an instant presentation. The same system delivers clean background music for everyday use, so the space works whether it's hosting a CFO forum or just another Tuesday afternoon.

"It resonates with the brand and sets a new standard for what an employee break room can be."

That combination, fine pixel pitch LED plus a control system simple enough that staff never think about it, is exactly what we look for on every corporate AV project, whether it's a lounge in Manhattan or a boardroom in Orlando. See more of the build in our full Mitsubishi project page.

Working in New York

Projects like this one are a reminder that great AV design does not care about zip code. A headquarters in Times Square has the same fundamental need as a hotel lobby in Orlando: technology that elevates the space instead of dominating it, and a system simple enough that the people who use it every day never have to think about the engineering behind it.

If your team in New York, or anywhere on the East Coast, is planning an LED video wall or a corporate AV upgrade, get in touch. We will walk you through what is realistic for your space and your budget.
